A new house and garden for my parents. The Lodge, designed by Stephen Tortely, was completed 2014 and commands panoramic views of their farmland. The design development looked at laying out areas of planting accompanied by focal points to provide interesting routes through the garden and out to the fields. The terrace and hardlandscape materials throughout the scheme will be limited to stone and brick sympathetic to the rural character of the place. Tree planting will provide a sense of structure to help settle the house within the landscape and trained fruit trees are intended as a reference to the extensive orchard shown on Victorian maps of the farm. The garden areas round the terrace and driveway have now been completed.
